Group review slows when each subsidiary invents its own idea of a “complete” binder. One entity puts bank reconciliations under cash; another buries them under treasury; a third emails screenshots with no index.
Agree a shallow tree first: trial balance, core schedules, evidence, correspondence. Force every entity to map into those four roots before debating deeper folders. Depth can vary; roots should not.
Share schedule templates with locked header rows for preparer, reviewer, and source reference. Formatting freedom feels kind until consolidation night.
